Police say the attack happened in the 1300 block of North Patterson Park Avenue, where an officer was forced to take action to save lives.

Police say a dog was attacking its owner inside a basketball court around 6:20 p.m. That’s when a child ran up to an officer, screaming for help.

The officer then rushed to contain the dog and protect the owner, but the dog ended up turning its attention to the officer.
