Baltimore Police Shoot, Wound Armed Man In Leg

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore police say an officer shot an armed man in the leg after hearing gunfire while investigating a reported robbery and shooting nearby.

Detective Donny Moses says both incidents occurred Wednesday evening in Southwest Baltimore. He says there were no fatalities.

Moses says police were called shortly after 6 p.m. to the scene of the suspected robbery. He says officers were investigating that incident when they heard gunfire a couple blocks away.

Officers responding to the sound of gunshots found two suspects armed with handguns near the intersection of Hilton Street and Edmonson Avenue.

Moses says an officer shot one of them in the leg and recovered guns from both suspects.
