Lawsuit Filed In Prince George's County School Porn Case

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)—Twelve children are now believed to have been sexually abused inside their Prince George's County school and there may be more victims.

Alex DeMetrick has the latest.

22-year old Deonte Carraway is being held on a million dollar bond for what he allegedly did while volunteering at Sylvania Woods Elementary School in Prince George's County.

A nude photo of a student on Kik, a web site police say is used by child pornographers, led to Carraway's arrest.

Authorities say seven students were abused by Carraway directly.

"We've interviewed over 18 children and over two dozen families," authorities said.

Charging documents allege Carraway directed children to perform sex acts, taping them with his cellphone in the school's restrooms and auditorium.

Parental anger quickly targeted the principal.

"He should be fired, jailed," said one parent. "How does he not know he has people doing that in his school?"

The principal has now been placed on leave, while the investigation continues.

According to an Associated Press report, a lawsuit has been filed against the school claiming that the school's principal was notified about the predatory behavior.

School system CEO Kevin Maxwell said Wednesday that principal Michelle Williams has been put on paid leave. The lawsuit claims teachers had expressed concerns about Carraway to Williams, but Williams claimed she couldn't act without proof.

"We're looking to identify those children who may have been victimized to provide them with the support they need to deal with this terrible, terrible crime," authorities said.

Police say they have discovered 40 sex videos of children aged 9-13-years-old.

Parents are expected to meet with officials on Thursday evening in hopes to get answers to their many questions.
