The Norris & Long Show Best Of - Week Of August 13th

This week's best of includes interviews with Ron Cook of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette on what to expect from the Steelers this season, an interview with Paul McMullen of Press Box on Michael Phelps dominance, and an interview with Will Leitch of Deadspin on buying the Orioles as a contender.

RON COOK

Ron started off by talking about the Steelers defense and what to expect from them saying "I think the offense might have to score 30 points a game and that's their goal, that secondary just doesn't look very good at all." When he elaborated more on the subject of the Steelers defense Ron said "they think the front 7 will be ok, and they like their pass rush but there is no question the secondary looks really weak...they're not only bad in the secondary but they're also not very deep at all."

As for the Steelers offense and if they can score enough points to overcome the defensive deficiencies Ron said "they're certainly optimistic about it, Martavis Bryant is out for the year and that is a big loss for them...Roethlisberger is playing as well as he ever has, and with Antonio Brown between the two of them they might have the greatest season between a quarterback and a pass catcher ever."

Ron went on to talk about the rest of the AFC North and whether or not it's a three team race or if all four teams will be involved.

PAUL MCMULLEN

McMullen started off by talking about watching Michael Phelps compete in Rio saying, "I am enjoying it greatly from thousands of miles away, I told my wife the other night I'm glad I'm here and not there. You can actually see more watching it on television."

When asked if he was surprised by what Phelps is achieving during the games this year, he said, "not at all, in the press box article I said he would win 5 gold medals...tonight is going to be really difficult, Sports Illustrated picked a young Chinese fellow to win the gold."

Paul went on to talk about Phelps being more concerned with being a team player than putting himself out there and taking all the glory.

WILL LEITCH

The Orioles are one of only five teams that haven't had a losing season since 2012. Leitch still has faith in the Orioles, even though they've been winless since he posted his article. He says, "every team is going to have a stretch during the season where the bats go cold especially one that is as boom or bust as the Orioles."

Will expounded on keeping his faith saying, "three games are not going to change my general view point that not only should people believe in Baltimore but people are overdue for believing in Baltimore."

"You can't ignore what the Orioles have done," said Leitch. He also praises Buck Showalter for being quite a "unicorn" of a manager that the city has fallen head over heels for.

Will went on to give more reasons why the fans around major league baseball should start having faith that the Orioles are a contender.
