2 Howard County Council Members To File Plastic Bag Fee Bill

HOWARD COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- It could soon cost you to use plastic bags in Howard County.

Two council members will introduce a bill next month requiring a five-cent fee on the disposable carriers.

If passed, the bill would go into effect July 1.

The money gathered from the fee would create the Disposable Plastics Reduction Fund, which would be used for reusable bags, stream cleanups, and other environmental cleanup initiatives.
