Body Found Among Recycling At Plant In Cockeysville, Police Investigating

COCKEYSVILLE, Md. (WJZ) — Baltimore County Police said a body was found among recycling at a recycling plant in Cockeysville on Tuesday.

Just after noon, police responded to the Baltimore County Acceptance Main Recycling Plant in the 10200 block of Beaver Dam Road.

Police said they've taken the remains to the Medical Examiner's Officer where they're awaiting the results of an autopsy.

"Then we'll be able to determine what exactly happened," Baltimore County Police Corporal Shawn Vinson said. "Where this crime, if this is a crime occurred, or if this is an accidental death or a suicide."

Vinson said he's not able to release any information about the identity of the remains found.

"We're going to check our local jurisdictions, within Baltimore County and other jurisdictions to see our missing persons reports, or if we have homicides where they have not located a body in that case," Vinson said.

According to its signage, the recycling plant is open weekdays from 4 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and also on Saturday's. Once the plant closes, however, the driveway is blocked off and inaccessible to the public.

"That's scary, you just want to get as much information," Ashley Kesler, of Baltimore County, said.

"This time of year, it gets really sad when something like that happens, because a family has lost a loved one," Mark Westraad, of Baltimore County, said.

Vinson said that it's still very early in the investigation and that police don't want to disclose too much information until they know what led up to the discovery.
