Best Public Pools In Baltimore

Each year, Baltimore's Department of Recreation and Parks opens its many pools so that the public can escape the heat, have a good time and splash around. There are quite a few pools and splash pads, both indoors and outdoors, in the area in which people can frolic and exercise at the same time. Here is a small sampling of the pools available throughout the city where one can escape the heat and humidity through the month of August.
Callowhill Aquatics Center

Located in the Pimlico area of the city, the Callowhill Aquatics Center features an indoor pool with swimming lessons throughout the week. Lessons are geared for children from ages 6 and above. The center offers open swims to the public, as well as water aerobics. There are lifeguards on duty to make sure you feel safe. The pool is also available for rental for those special events that you want to be memorable. The Callowhill Aquatics Center is open from Monday-Friday, once schools close for the summer.

This pool has been newly renovated. It features a safe area for toddlers and offers water Zumba classes, as well as swimming instruction for the non-swimmer. This pool is a great place to spend time with the family while having fun. It is located in the picturesque Patterson Park which allows for additional activities after cooling off with a dip in the pool. Admission to this pool is the same nominal fee as others managed by Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks.

There are two pools at this location: one park pool and one wading pool. Courses are offered in water aerobics, swimming lessons and swim conditioning and diving. Lifeguards are always on duty for safety purposes when the pool is open. The pool is located in close proximity to the Maryland Zoo and a beautiful park where the whole family can enjoy themselves before or after swim time. The pool is situated so that you can take a dip or enjoy other activities like: a walk, a swing at the playground or even take a visit to Safety City.

Located in East Baltimore, this outdoor pool is the perfect location to beat the heat. No matter the skill level, there is a session available for all kinds of swimmers. Lifeguards are always on duty. The Clifton Park Swimming Pool is located in the park of the same name, which provides an excellent setting for all family members to enjoy the outdoors.

The Cherry Hill Splash Pad provides a place for neighborhood children to splash around and beat the heat, without being totally submerged in water. The water squirts from fountains and is timed so that children can run under, splash about and enjoy themselves, while cooling off. There are water slides available as well as additional activities to relax and have fun in the sun.
