Coppin State Defeats Lincoln (Pa.) 70-57

BALTIMORE (AP) ― Michael Harper scored 19 points and Tony Gallo added 18 to lead Coppin State past Lincoln (Pa.) 70-57 on Tuesday night.

The Eagles (2-2) trailed 36-33 at halftime, but shot 50 percent in the second half while limiting the Lions to 31.3 percent in the period.

Coppin State took the lead for good midway through the second half on a pair of free throws by Gallo. The Eagles increased their lead to 51-46 with 8:08 remaining after two free throws by Collin Johnson and another by Ceslovas Kucinskas.

The Eagles shot 46.9 percent for the game (23 of 49), while the Lions made 42.6 percent (23 of 54).

Lincoln trimmed its deficit to 51-48, but Coppin State answered with a 13-4 run to seal it.

The Lions (1-4), of Division II, shot 59.1 percent from the field in the first half and got a big performance from Denzel Mooney.

Mooney scored 20 of his 31 points before halftime.
