Cumberland Paper Names Effingham Publisher

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- The Cumberland Times-News has a new publisher.

Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. said Monday that Larry Effingham is succeeding Ron Monahan as publisher of the western Maryland newspaper. Monahan has retired after 44 years with the Times-News.

Effingham was most recently director of sales and marketing at The Herald-Mail in Hagerstown. He is also a former president and publisher of The Star Democrat & Sunday Star of Easton.

Effingham has also served as regional group manager for Chesapeake Publishing Corp.'s Mid-Shore Community Newspaper Division. The unit includes The Star Democrat; The Times Record in Caroline County; The Dorchester Star; The Record Observer and The Bay Times in Queen Anne's County; and The Kent County News.
