Ravens Spread Cheer To Area Children

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Santa is getting help from a few special elves.

Mary Bubala reports members of the Baltimore Ravens spread cheer and gifts through our community Tuesday.

At Union Memorial Hospital, Ravens cheerleaders stopped into patients' rooms as quarterback Joe Flacco made a special appearance.

"If we didn't win, they will let you know," Flacco said.  "It's always good to see people, try to raise their spirits a little bit, just get them going."

Ray Rice and other Ravens players brought a spcial celebration to local kids Tuesday as part of their annual program, The Gift of Giving.

"These kids work hard.  This is a good group.  From what I know, they have perfect attendance.  They are working hard at school and that's all you want--you want to have a reward for hard work, especially at this time of the year," Rice said.

Santa also greeted the students from Lockerman Bundy Elementary School at Peerce's Landing in Phoenix.  Students were given presents and treated to a special lunch and holiday music performance.

At another event Tuesday, wide receiver TJ Houshmandzadeh gave out dinner baskets with help from Giant Food.
