Ocean City Rejects Resort-Wide Ban On Smoking
OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) -- The Ocean City Council has rejected a smoking ban throughout the resort, instead creating voluntary smoking areas on the beach and boardwalk.
A rule against smoking in the city's parks will be more strongly enforced.
Councilman Joe Hall suggested this week that cans, with labels requesting people use them for smoking, be put on the beach.
Resort residents and visitors testified for and against the ban.
Ocean City resident David Fox said the boardwalk looks like a dirty ashtray.
