Assault Charge Against Md. Court Clerk Dropped
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- Prosecutors have decided not to pursue an allegation of assault made against the clerk of the Prince George's County Circuit Court.
Prosecutors said Tuesday they would not continue to press charges against Marilynn Bland, who was accused of attacking a county employee in her former role as a county Council member. The person making the complaint, Council employee W. Randy Short, alleged Bland grabbed him and started screaming and cursing at him on Nov. 17 when he started a meeting without her.
A spokesman for State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks says investigators did not have enough evidence to corroborate Short's story. A message left for Bland on Wednesday was not immediately returned.
