Maryland Man Accused Of Ramming 4 Police Cars

HARWOOD, Md. (AP) -- A Harwood man is facing attempted murder charges after Anne Arundel County police say he rammed four police cars while trying to avoid arrest.

Three police officers suffered minor injuries during the mayhem Wednesday morning. All were treated at a hospital and released.

Police say William Leapley Jr., 27, was suspected of assaulting a family member at his home. He wasn't there when officers initially responded Tuesday night, but police came back Wednesday morning.

Police say Leapley fled in a pickup truck and struck an unoccupied patrol car. He then struck a second car, injuring an officer inside as well as an officer outside of the car.

Police say Leapley later rammed two more police cars, forcing one into oncoming traffic and injuring an officer inside. Leapley was arrested minutes later.
