Microbrewery Proposed For Western Md. City
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Some Washington County officials are asking state lawmakers to help pave the way for a microbrewery in downtown Hagerstown.
Downtown redevelopment specialist Mike Deming said Wednesday that a prospective tenant wants to brew beer commercially in a building on South Potomac that previously housed a used bookstore.
But members of the county liquor board say they lack the authority to issue a state microbrewery license.
Two of the board's three members are asking the county's delegation to the General Assembly to submit a bill that would give Washington County that authority.
