Power Failure Causes Wastewater Overflow

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County officials say a power failure during the snowstorm caused some 263,000 gallon of wastewater to overflow in Mill Creek.

The Department of Health has ordered an emergency closing of the creek and warns against direct water contact.

The power failure occurred during Wednesday night's storm. Officials say an emergency generator also failed to start.

Generator power was restored early Thursday and the pumping station is operating normally.

The creek will remain closed until further notice.
