2 Charged With Aiding Escape Of Md. Jail Inmate

OAKLAND, Md. (AP) -- A Frederick man and a Cumberland woman face charges of helping an inmate escape from the Garrett County jail last month.

The county sheriff's office said Tuesday that Richard Hall, 26, and Amanda Lambert, 23, are charged with conspiracy to commit both first-degree escape and first-degree assault, and with being accessories after the fact.

Sheriff Rob Corley says they participated in the armed escape of Deandre Kelly, 29, of Washington on Jan. 23. Kelly remains at large.

Corley tells the Cumberland Times-News that Hall, Lambert and Kelly were in a car that state police pulled over in Friendsville Jan. 22. He says police removed Hall and Lambert but Kelly drove off on a chase that led to his arrest and jailing.
