Mount St. Mary's Tops Fairleigh Dickinson 70-59

EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP) -- Shawn Atupem scored 17 points and Julian Norfleet added 14 to lead Mount St. Mary's (Md.) over Fairleigh Dickinson 70-59 on Saturday night.

The Mountaineers (9-16, 7-5 Northeast Conference) led 37-29 at halftime after shooting 42.9 percent from the field (15 of 35) in the opening half. Mount St. Mary's led by 13 four times in the second and held the Knights to 9-of-28 shooting after the break (32.1 percent).

Kamil Svrdlik led Fairleigh Dickinson (4-19, 2-10) with 19 points and was the Knights' only player in double figures. John Galvin grabbed 12 rebounds for the Knights, who have lost seven straight and 16 of their last 17.

The Mountaineers forced 15 turnovers, while turning it over only five times.

The game was delayed for 20 minutes at the 13:30 mark of the second half after Knott Arena temporarily lost power. Both teams scored 25 points apiece following the delay.
