Ex-Pentagon Official To Be Buried In Arlington

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) -- The funeral of a slain ex-Pentagon official whose body was found in a Delaware landfill will be buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports that the funeral for John Wheeler III, 66, will include a procession in a horse-drawn carriage and his cremated remains will be laid to rest in a columbarium at the Virginia cemetery.

The newspaper says a spokeswoman at the cemetery confirmed the funeral would begin at 9 a.m. on April 29.

Wheeler was a driving force behind the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and had worked in three presidential administrations.

His body was found among trash being dumped at a Wilmington landfill on Dec. 31. A medical examiner determined Wheeler died of blunt trauma injuries after being assaulted.
