Coppin State Holds Off Md.-Eastern Shore 69-67

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Michael Harper scored 19 points and Coppin State held off Maryland-Eastern Shore 69-67 on Saturday.

After nine ties, the Eagles (13-12, 8-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) built a 10-point, second-half advantage and led 67-61 with 1:16 to go.

The Hawks (6-20, 3-10) rallied to close the gap to 67-64 with 1:02 left on a 3-pointer by Hillary Haley, who finished with 24 points and 13 rebounds.

After a Coppin State turnover, Haley missed 3-pointers at the 15-second and 10-second marks.

Harper made 1 of 2 free throws to push the lead back to four, then Louis Bell hit a 3-pointer to make it 68-67 with 4.3 seconds to go.

Akeem Ellis hit a foul shot for the Eagles, then Maryland-Eastern Shore's Kevin White missed a half-court attempt at
the buzzer.

Coppin State's Michael Murray had his first career double-double with career highs of 11 points and 11 rebounds.
