1 Dead, 2 Injured In Aberdeen Boating Accident

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — One man is dead and two others injured after a boating accident near Aberdeen Proving Grounds.

APG spokesman George Mercer says a boater on the Gunpowder River discovered the three men on a boat that had been in some kind of accident on Sunday morning and towed them back to Baltimore County.

Mercer says all three were taken to hospitals and one was pronounced dead at Franklin Square Hospital.

Mercer says portions of the river are sometimes for testing or training, but it was open to the public on Sunday morning. He says the Army’s criminal investigation command will probe the incident.

Oh my, how horrible for those men and their families. To the boater who towed them back to Balto. Co., God put you there for a reason.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they hit some unexploded ordinance from the range that APG has out there. Of course, you can’t tell much from the information provided in this article…

they were watermen trying to finish out the yellow perch season that closed on monday. The captain is a well known waterman and has been working the rivers and bay for many years. Lets hope that he and the other man are going to be alriight and my condolences go out to the family of the deceased.
