Part Of ICC Toll Road Opens; Free Until March 6

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) -- The first segment of the newest toll road in the Washington region is now open.

The first seven miles of the $2.6 billion Intercounty Connector linking Maryland's Montgomery and Prince George's counties opened to drivers on Wednesday morning. It runs from the Interstate 270 corridor to the Georgia Avenue corridor.

The toll road is free until March 6.

The rest of the six-lane highway connecting Gaithersburg and Laurel is expected to be finished late this year or early next year. It will be known as Route 200.
