Workers Allowed Back Into Social Security Building After Evacuation

WOODLAWN, Md. (WJZ) — The Social Security Administration building in Woodlawn is back to normal after it was evacuated due to a suspicious package.

Officials say UPS delivered the package to 1500 Woodlawn Drive around 1:45 p.m. Thursday.

The bomb squad was called to the scene to investigate. Employees waited outside while the building was searched.

It was later determined the package only had electronics in it and was safe.

Workers were allowed to return to work.

My mother works there. She said the fire alarms went off at two and they were evacuated for 90 minutes.

I was actually outside waiting on pins and needles. I was terrified when I saw the bomb squad speeding through. My friend was shivering in her pants. She cried all the way to Woodlawn Drive. I did my best to console her but she broke out in fits.
