SNOW HILL, Md. (AP) — A Pennsylvania man has been convicted of second-degree murder for killing his 85-year-old mother by running over her with a truck.
Steven Molin of Darby, Pa., had been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Emily Molin in August on a rural Worcester County road. The jury convicted him of the lesser offense on Thursday.
Prosecutors say Emily Molin was standing behind the truck Steven Molin was driving when he backed up and ran her over several times.
Steven Molin contended that his mother accidentally fell out of the vehicle.
Second-degree murder carries a maximum sentence of 30 years. A presentencing investigation is planned.
