BLOG: Mild Weekend

The next several days will be relatively quiet with a clipper-like system today well to our north and little in the way of impact other than a few clouds and breezy conditions. Clouds will hang around tonight as a cold front pushes across the area with partial sunshine expected in the wake of the front for Sunday. Temperatures will not cool off that much with a good deal of mixing and relatively mild mid-level temperatures. A secondary cold front will move through overnight and Monday will be cooler than average for mid-March thanks to more robust cold-advection. Moisture will be limited considerably, so precipitation is not expected.

It will remain cool for Tuesday with Wednesday somewhat of a wildcard at this time. There is a considerable spread among model guidance with regard to a shortwave trough expected to move through the Mississippi Valley on Tuesday. The GFS is the most progressive with that feature and pushes it offshore well to our south while the ECMWF and GGEM both depict phasing with a northern branch disturbance, though at varying degrees. For now we'll go with some clouds, but subsequent forecasts may need to introduce rain chances and it's certainly worth mentioning. In
any event we should moderate back into the 50s early next week and perhaps even 60 by Wednesday... Again, we're still uncertain about Wednesday so I would stick with the theme of "near normal."

Have a great day!
