Man, 41, Killed While Walking Home In Olney

OLNEY, Md. (AP) — Montgomery County police say a man has been shot and killed while walking home from work in Olney, and detectives are investigating whether it’s linked to another homicide in the same community last week.

Police say they responded to the 3400 block of North High Street about 4:20 p.m. Monday for a report of possible gunshots.

Authorities say officers found a man suffering from a gunshot injury near the roadway.

The man,Punyasara Gedara, 41, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police say the man worked in the area and had been walking home when he was shot.

Detectives are investigating whether the death is connected to the homicide of Nazir Ahmed, 81, who was found dead inside his Olney home on March 18.
