C&O Canal Discoveries Program Highlights Hidden Gems
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The National Park Service is hoping you'll discover the C&O Canal's hidden gems.
The park service will start a 40-week Canal Discoveries program Saturday at the canal's Georgetown Visitor Center.
The program includes web-based guides that highlight different places along the nearly 200-mile canal. The guide includes nearby points of interest, photos, videos, suggested itineraries and driving directions.
The park service says many of the park's hidden gem guides will be released in conjunction with an event or festival along the canal's towpath.
