BLOG: Cold War In College Park
On What should have been a great day in Raleigh, NC State AD Debbie Yow decided to rip the band aid off an old wound. The University was introducing new Men's basketball coach Mark Gotfried to the media. During the press conference, Yow accused Maryland basketball coach Gary Williams of sabotaging their coaching search. My read on this is that NC State wanted VCU Head coach Shaka Smart to be their guy. If I'm Shaka, I call Gary Williams to ask him what it was like to work for Yow (former University of MD AD). I have a feeling Williams gave Shaka an honest assessment. To me this says more about Yow than Williams. I actually feel bad for Mark Gotfried in all of this.
