Md. Has One Of The Country's Richest Counties
HOWARD COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- You don't have to go far to find one of the richest counties in the country---it's right in our backyard in Howard County.
Jessica Kartalija shows us what makes Howard County so attractive.
Money Magazine once ranked Howard County as one of the best places to live and now Forbes is ranking it as one of the most affluent in the country.
Time and time again, Howard County has been named one of the best places to live in America.
"We like being ranked in the top 10 of any category in the country," said Ken Ulman, Howard County Executive.
Forbes Magazine ranked Howard in the top five richest counties in the country, with the top three in Virginia.
"We have a tremendous amount of things to offer. There's things for families; there's things for single people," said Charlene Townsend, Maxine's Antiques.
In downtown Ellicott City, everyone says they believe it's the diversity that makes Howard County so unique, along with its proximity to Washington, D.C. and Baltimore City.
Forbes cited Howard County's median household income as $101,000.
"You'll see people from all different backgrounds who will hang out together and be friends," said Amylynne Bers. "That's my favorite part of Howard County."
Not surprisingly, Howard County was also ranked among the best counties for commuters.
Howard County has also been ranked one of the best for raising a family.
