Man Killed In Port Accident Identified
BALTIMORE (AP/WJZ) -- Authorities say a state employee was hit and killed by a truck as it rolled away after he parked it at the Port of Baltimore.
Maryland Transportation Authority police spokesman Sgt. Jonathan Green says James Mills Gillus, 46, who worked for the Maryland Environmental Service, stopped the three-axle truck owned by the agency Tuesday morning near Berth 14 at the Dundalk Marine Terminal.
But as the man walked away from the truck, Green says the man realized it was rolling. He says Gillus was hit as he tried to get into the truck to stop it.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Transportation authority police are investigating the incident.
