Wind Farm Developer Seeks Easement For Power Line

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- The developer of a Pennsylvania wind farm is seeking the rights to run a transmission line from its project through Allegany County land to Frostburg.

EverPower Wind Holding Inc. wants to run the line under part of the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad and the Great Allegheny Passage Trail. It would travel about 600 or 800 feet underground and rise above ground on either side.

It would run from EverPower's proposed Twin Ridges Wind Farm in Somerset County, Pa., and through Frostburg, where it would link to the Allegheny Power Frostburg No. 1 substation.

The company made a presentation to county commissioners on Thursday. Commissioners said they would review the plan for a future agenda.

The company offered to pay $20,000 every 10 years over the life of the project.
