Woman Gets 15 Years For Western Md. Bank Robbery

OAKLAND, Md. (AP) — A Pennsylvania woman is serving a 15-year-prison sentence for robbing a bank in the western Maryland town of Grantsville.

Amy McBride, 47, of Spring Grove, Pa., was sentenced Thursday in Garrett County Circuit Court.

She was also ordered to pay more than $2,000 in court costs.

A jury found McBride guilty in March of robbing an M&T Bank branch last June.

Police say she wore a disguise and claimed she had a gun in a note she handed to a bank employee.

Another customer followed her from the bank and obtained her vehicle tag number. The information helped police catch McBride about 45 minutes after the robbery.

This woman is a criminal. Anyone who would claim to have a gun to commit a crime deserves a lengthy prison stay. Times are hard for middle class Americans and even harder for the already poor, this woman was looking for an easy way to collect some fast cash. I bet if she put half the effort into looking for a job (yes even at McDonald’s) she could have found one. She deserves every minute of prison time the judge orders her to serve. As far as robbing someone on the streets, are you stupid. What if that someone has a heart attack or a gun and decides to shoot/kill her. I bet your way of thinking is well if she would get shot she would deserve it for trying to rob them, well I don’t think so, she needs to be punished but not killed. People do desperate things in desperate times whether it is wrong or not, The blame and finger pointing needs to go at our government, they bailed everyone out except the people who paid the biggest price of all!
