EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP) — Mount St. Mary’s University in Maryland is dedicating a statue of Pope John Paul II on the same day he is being beatified at the Vatican.

The university is holding a dedication for the statute on Sunday following an outdoor Mass. The six-foot statute statue is made of marble and was carved in Italy. It was donated to the university by Howard Kang.
