BALTIMORE (WJZ) — There are a lot of food critics around, but there’s one in Baltimore who’s getting a lot of attention.

Ron Matz reports that’s because he’s just 10.

Eli Knauer was digging in at the recent Grilled Cheese Cook-Off at the Mt. Washington Tavern where he was a judge. The Parkville 10-year-old is creating a stir with his web site.

“We were on vacation and I told my mom I wanted to be a food critic when I grow up. She said I needed a blog first, so that’s how I started the blog. My web site is ‘Adventures of a Koodie.com,'” said Knauer.

“The Adventures of a Koodie” chronicles eating with Knauer, getting a kid’s take on local restaurants.

“I wouldn’t say I’m the youngest food blogger in America, but probably the youngest in Maryland,” said Knauer.

“We started this because he really likes food and he’s very descriptive. He likes to write. I’m a photographer, so I take pictures and he posts them on his blog. It’s just a fun thing for all of us to do,” said Jason Knauer, Eli’s dad.

Knauer began his food blog last August. Since then he’s reviewed more than 50 Baltimore area restaurants.

“My favorite food overall is pizza! I like bacon on my pizza. I do like meatloaf, too, but it’s not my favorite,” said Eli Knauer.

“He really likes it. He’s oblivious to the kind of attention to it and that’s cool. He really loves to eat and really has an opinion,” said Jason Knauer.

Eli Knauer is in the fourth-grade. He lives with his parents, brother and sister in Parkville.
