It's Harvest Time For Md. Oyster Gardeners
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The Chesapeake Bay Foundation says it's time for oyster gardeners to start pulling up their cages.
The foundation says residents who have been growing oysters in cages on docks around the bay can return them to sites in Annapolis, St. Michaels and Solomon's Island over the next month. The first collections are being held Monday and Tuesday in Annapolis.
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation says oyster gardeners don't have to register, just bring their oysters in a sturdy bucket or other container that doesn't have to be returned. Please count the oysters to help the foundation estimate how many oysters will be planted on each reef.
