Vigil Marks 6 Months Since Teen's Disappearance

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Family and friends are working to keep alive the memory of a North Carolina teen whose body was found in a Maryland river months after her disappearance.

Dozens gathered outside Baltimore's City Hall for the "Justice For Phylicia Barnes" vigil Tuesday to mark six months since the 16-year-old from Monroe, N.C., disappeared. After her body was found in April, Barnes' death was ruled a homicide, but no one has been charged.

Months later, Marcus Dent, commander of the Baltimore Guardian Angels chapter, says people are left without answers. He hopes the vigil will prompt anyone who knows what happened to come forward.

Rev. C.D. Witherspoon, local Southern Christian Leadership Conference president, says the vigil is meant to keep Barnes' memory alive and build urgency for bringing her killer to justice.
