BLOG: Another Hot One

Another hot one, but cooler air is on the way.

We are heating up again this afternoon, while the dewpoints/humidity remain high. At noon, we were already at 88 degrees with the heat index in the mid 90s. We are going to keep rising this afternoon, possibly tying the record high temperature of 97 set way back in 1908. The heat index will also get close to 100 in some areas this afternoon. One big difference over yesterday is that there is a breeze. It's not a big one, but can help a little outside.

There is a cold front that will move through the state today through tomorrow. There is the chance for a shower or thunderstorm to pop up during the late-day hours. Anything that does form will die down overnight. With the front still close enough tomorrow, there will be another shot at some late-day thunderstorms. However, after that, the front pushes way down to the south - taking all the stormy weather and heat with it.

It will be another warm day tomorrow with highs near 90 degrees. A good breeze will turn around to the northwest, though, and start to lower the dewpoints/humidity. So even though it will be warm, it won't be as sticky outside. Then, even drier and cooler air will arrive for the second half of the week. Highs will top out in the mid 80s Thursday and Friday, probably a couple of degrees shy of the average of 88 degrees.

Temperatures will start climbing over the weekend, but nothing to extreme. At the same time, a new storm will get closer from the west. There could be a late-day thunderstorm on Saturday from it.
