U. Md Hagerstown Chief Takes Community College Job

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The executive director of the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown says he's leaving to become vice president of academic affairs at Hagerstown Community College.

David Warner told The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown on Tuesday that he accepted the community college job on Monday.

Warner has run the state university system's downtown Hagerstown campus since it opened in 2005. The campus has survived a number of funding fights in the General Assembly.

Warner says the university center is positioned for continued success. He says he's rejoining Hagerstown Community College, where his career began, at a time of increasing enrollment and growth at the college.
