Convicted Killer Accused Of Escape Attempt

SNOW HILL, Md. (AP) -- A man awaiting sentencing on a first-degree murder conviction has been accused of trying to escape from jail.

According to charging documents, on July 12, Justin Michael Hadel, of College Station, Texas, removed a foot-long hinge from an observation window at the Worcester County jail and used it to pry open a security window casing.

The Daily Times of Salisbury reports the charging documents were filed on Tuesday.

Hadel, 20, was convicted last month in the 2007 slaying of Christine Marie Sheddy, 26. Her skeletal remains were found in February 2010 on the grounds of a bed and breakfast in Snow Hill.

Hadel is scheduled for a sentencing hearing on Sept. 9. He could be sentenced to life without possibility of parole.
