BLOG: Hot Again

After a day of temperatures that not only set records for the date, but set "ALL TIME RECORDS" for city and state... we are looking at another day of sweltering heat. Friday's temperature at BWI Marshall hit 106 degrees, eclipsing the old record of 105 (which was hit twice in the past---the last time being July 6, 2010). The city record of 107 was set back in 1936 and was supassesd---topping out at 108. Both record temperatures were hit for just about a minute each. We also saw heat indices reach from the low 100s to the 120s throughout the state.

Pop-up showers and thunderstorms are possible at anytime today, but don't expect much relief. Very quick storms rolled through parts of Carroll, Baltimore, Harford and Howard counties, but only proved to dump enough rain--to steam things up as the temperatures have continued to rise. Expect highs today near 100 ( the BWI Marshall record 102) with a heat index in the 105-110 range. Our relief will come areawide on Monday with the approach of a cold front. It will bring a better chance of showers and allow cooler air to filter into the Mid-Atlantic. Temps will dip into the 90s on Monday and Tuesday, but quickly rebound into the mid to upper 90s by late week.

Stay cool and hydrated... and remember to keep your pets inside or in the shade with cool water.
