Hard as it is to see a pair of the most popular Ravens–Derrick Mason and Todd Heap–it shouldn’t come as a huge shock. The best NFL teams get rid of players a year too early rather than a year too late…see Steelers. If you pay a guy not to produce, it can cripple your team. The older the players get, the more likely that will happen. It won’t surprise me if either one comes back, particularly Derrick. The Ravens just want them at a lower price, and the team knows they are in the driver’s seat. There will be a limited market for these two players this late in the game.
