BLOG: Temperatures Drop Briefly, But Highs In The Upper 90s By Friday

What a difference! Yesterday's drenching, flooding thunderstorms have taken the high humidity away with them. It's still very warm outside, but significantly less muggy. Temperatures are still climbing into the low 90s today but the dewpoints have dropped considerably. They were consistently in the 70s recently, making the air so incredibly thick. They have now dropped into the 50s this afternoon, really drying things out. You can even tell how much bluer the sky looks with less moisture in the air as compared to the milky haze we have had lately.

This drier air mass will stay on top of us for another day or so. Lows will drop back into the 60s tonight and we may only top out at 89 degrees tomorrow. But another round of heat is already brewing over the middle of the country. It will spread north and east, eventually moving our way for the second half of the week. Highs will jump back to the mid 90s Thursday, then upper 90s Friday. The humidity/dewpoints will also build during this time. Both high humidity/dewpoints and highs in the 90s will stick around this weekend. Meanwhile, another front will scoot by to the north Friday into Saturday. There is the chance for some thunderstorms with it as it passes by.

Enjoy the brief break in your BGE bills!
