BLOG: Relief Coming

Back in the 90s again today, but a break is coming.

Even though a cold front moved through late yesterday, we went right back to the mid 90s again today - for the 17th straight day in a row. However, we think that streak is coming to an end.

A new cold front is moving our way from the northwest. Clouds will come in tonight, and maybe even a shower or thunderstorm late tonight/early tomorrow. Then, scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible on and off through the day tomorrow as the front slowly presses through Maryland. The humidity/dewoints will be higher with more clouds tomorrow, and some of the thunderstorms may even become strong to severe. The high humidity/dewpoints will make it feel like it's in the 90s, even though we think that temperatures will get held in the 80s.

There may still be a lingering shower into early Thursday before the front presses off to the south. It may be close, but we think that temperatures will get held in the 80s again on Thursday. Then, they start to climb again as we head toward the weekend. At the same time, a new front will move our way with scattered thunderstorms possible later Saturday into Sunday.

In the tropics...

Tropical storm Emily is gaining strength in the Atlantic. At the 5 p.m. update, winds are up to 50 mph and it starting to make a turn to the west-northwest. The track takes it across many of the Caribbean islands and eventually toward the Southeast coast of the United States this weekend. This is still a ways out and there are many factors to come together, but we will keep you updated as we move through the week.
