BALTIMORE (WJZ)– Thirty years and 44 million visitors later, the National Aquarium in Baltimore is marking a major milestone.

Jessica Kartalija has more on the festivities planned for the aquarium’s 30th birthday.

A major milestone as the national aquarium celebrates the big 3-0!

“Happy Birthday, Baltimore aquarium!” screams a fan.

Who better to start the party than SpongeBob SquarePants?

The giant yellow porifera in a tie and short shorts joined kids of all ages at a birthday celebration that includes bean bags, drum circles and coloring.

The festivities continue all weekend with family activities like crafts, music and face painting.

“Happy Birthday, Baltimore aquarium!” says an excited visitor. “Thank you so much for the invite! We love being here. You’re the best!”

If you are turning 30 this year, present your ID and admission to the aquarium is $5. (Regular adult admission is $24.95.) Also enjoy a free cupcake! The 1,000 cupcakes on display are also available for purchase.

Visit the National Aquarium’s website for a full schedule of events.

What a joke! 30 YEARS! They should let legal residents of Baltimore in free for the 30 year anniversary. A FREE CUPCAKE for the 30 year anniversary for a $25 entry, wow!!!! Another Godless money hungry celebration doing nothing for the citizens of Baltimore, except for the typical business attitude, “I will gouge you for every penny I can! Besides, there are enough people in Baltimore plus the tourists. We don’t need you poor people!” Depriving poor Baltimore children from seeing the Aquarian one child at a time!

So true, I got 4 in my family and the cost is $28ish for the ticket to also see the dolphins. it is a joke for over $100 for the 4 of us.

If the price was more resonsible i’d go.

How is it that 12 of the 9/11 terrorists could live for 2 weeks just 2 miles from NSA head quarters in Maryland.
This after several of them had taken flight simulator lessons on Jumbo jet trainers and several of them where on State department terror watch lists.
There is evidence that employees from DoD, CIA and DOJ accepted bribes from Al Quida.
If DoJ and DoD employees where more concerned with doing their jobs than enriching themselves by stealing from suspects and taking bribes, then there might have been more a chance that 9/11 had never happened.
