Tuesday night’s Orioles game was just another example of why replay needs to be expanded in baseball. The Orioles lost by a run. Markakis was thrown out stealing in the 5th at 3rd. He was clearly safe. It should have been 2nd and 3rd with one out. Instead, it was 2 out with a runner on 2nd, and the Orioles didn’t score. They may not have won, and in the grand scheme of things, it hardly matters. However, we have the technology, so why not use it. Look, I’m not blaming Phil Cuzzi, the ump. It was a hard call in real time. But, with the benefit of replay, it was a no-brainer. In the time that Buck was arguing and tossed, the call could have been corrected if baseball used replay. It’s 2011, MLB, let’s get with it.
