Water Main Break Closes Road In Upper Marlboro

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- Crews are repairing a 30-inch water main in Upper Marlboro after a break caused the road to collapse and create a sinkhole.

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission says the sinkhole is approximately six feet deep and 15 feet wide. Officials have rerouted traffic in the 6900-block of South Osborne Road while repairs are being made. Officials did not know how long repairs would take or how many customers would be affected by the repairs.

No injuries were reported as a result of the break, though one car had to be towed from the scene after falling into the hole.
