Gov. O’Malley Announces Drop In Violent Crime

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Gov. Martin O’Malley is announcing a 6 percent drop in violent crime in Maryland.

O’Malley released the 2010 year-end crime data on Wednesday. It is compiled by the Maryland State Police and submitted to the FBI for use in the national crime statistics report.

The data shows homicides dropped 3.2 percent in 2010, with 14 fewer people murdered last year in Maryland than the year before.

The data also shows that robberies and motor vehicle deaths are down about 8 percent.

The O’Malley administration says the declines come at a time when state and local law enforcement agencies are increasing their use of technology and information sharing.

O’Malley says use of DNA has resulted in the arrests of 290 criminals since 2007.

Where in MD has there been a drop in crime? Maybe someone doesn’t watch the news. Murders, flash mobs, rapes, drugs, assaults, mugging, robbery, etc., etc., etc., etc.

  • Mike

Right !!!!!! And O’Malley is going to lower lower taxes for Marylanders — DON”T BELIEVE everything you hear or read

  • moretime

Their are just as many shootings. It’s just that they are only wounded and not killed. Typical spin from the Boy King……

Boy talk about manipulating numbers to make it look good.
A recent study had Baltimore as the 8th highest rateof violent crime per capita in 2010 in the nation among cities of 100,000 or more residents and 2nd highest east of the Mississippi. I guess with numbers like that it doesn’t take much of a drop to be able to say “we improved Visit out Inner Harbor and surrounding areas as experience for yourself how “safe” our city is.

Gov. O’Malley is doing an outstanding job. He has improved Maryland and the inner city since he has been in office. Thanks!!!!

Sticks and stones…….by the way Lt. Gov. Brown is doing a great job with the blood drive and all the other projects he is involved in.

  • Madman

  • Steve

This coming from the man who doctored the numbers in Baltimore for crime rates and murder, now wants us to beLIEve the states crime rate is down. Can he be trusted with any reports he puts out…hey, as long as the sheeple believe him, I guess all is good then, right!

  • pigeon

Believe that & I have a lake in the middle of the Arizona desert that I will sell to you, including the cruise liner anchored in the middle of the lake! There isn’t a politician walking the face of the earth that I would believe. REMEMBER, ELECTION TIME IS UPCOMING – BEWARE!!

  • honest tho

LaDasha, Yes,excellent job in holding down that blood drive. Just what we elected him to do. And tell me now, how has Omalley improved our State? Maybe you’re one of those illegals who benefits from the absurd reduced tuition. I bet you have your knee high boots on, don’t you?

  • cms827
