D.C. Mayor Says City Won't Tolerate Flash Mobs
WASHINGTON (AP) -- District of Columbia Mayor Vincent Gray says the city won't tolerate flash mob robberies like those seen in recent days in Northeast Washington and Montgomery County.
Early Thursday morning, at least 10 girls entered a Benning Road convenience store and stole about $70 worth of snacks and other items. Images of the group were posted online. Gray says D.C. police will pursue criminal charges against those involved.
On Aug. 13, more than 20 suspects swarmed a 7-Eleven store in Germantown and stole about $450 worth of merchandise. Police believe they have identified at least 16 of the suspects and are pursuing charges.
