Suspect In Law Grad's Death Now Faces More Charges

MACON, Ga. (AP) -- Authorities say a man charged with murder in the death of a law school graduate now faces additional charges of sexual exploitation of children.

Macon police said in a statement Tuesday that Stephen McDaniel has been charged with seven counts of sexual exploitation of children.

McDaniel's attorney, Floyd Buford, said the new charges have no relation to the murder case. McDaniel was charged with murder in the death of Lauren Giddings, a 27-year-old from Laurel, Md., who was last seen June 25. Five days later, police discovered her torso wrapped in plastic in a garbage bin near her Macon apartment building.

The Telegraph of Macon, citing information from arrest warrants, reports that police said they found inappropriate images on a flash drive belonging to McDaniel when they searched his apartment.
