Baltimore Co. Rescuers' Boat Capsizes
CATONSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Baltimore County fire officials say a swift water rescuers' boat has capsized in the Patapsco River, but both firefighters on board are safe.
County public safety officials says that swift boat teams converged in the area for several rescues near Frederick and River roads near the Howard County line Wednesday afternoon.
Capt. Robert Murray Sr. says four firefighters were responding to a stranded car when they got stuck on a pole. He says they tied up the boat and bailed out.
That's when Murray says two other firefighters responding as backup capsized. One was washed downstream and managed to swim to shore and help rescue his companion from a tree. Murray says the second firefighter was taken to an area hospital with a strained shoulder.
