Md. Extends Potomac River Warning

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The Maryland Natural Resources Police says people should avoid most recreational activities on the Potomac River and its tributaries through Tuesday.

The agency said Friday that heavy rain from the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee has made river levels hazardous to tubers, swimmers and boaters in watercraft not designed for whitewater.

The warning doesn't apply to professionally guided river trips.
